To-day, Buzzy Bee Toys Ltd has expanded its range of the New Zealand icon to more than several hundred items, all of which are in the shape of Buzzy Bee or carry the Buzzy Bee label. Buzzy Bee was first introduced into New Zealand in the 1940s by Hec & John Ransey of Auckland. The postwar baby boom, import restrictions and the distinctive colour combination of red body, blue wheels and yellow wings ensured instant appeal to both young and old alike. Buzzy Bee is regarded by many as the perfect toddlers toy as it is a real nursery adventure in colour, sound and movement with its bright colours, clicking sound and spinning wings.
