THE BUZZY BEE STORY

Up until the mid '90s, the genuine Buzzy Bee Pull-Along Toy was the only Buzzy Bee item available. To-day, Buzzy Bee Toys Ltd has expanded its range of the New Zealand icon to more than several hundred items, all of which are in the shape of Buzzy Bee or carry the Buzzy Bee label.

Buzzy Bee was first introduced into New Zealand in the 1940s by Hec & John Ransey of Auckland. The postwar baby boom, import restrictions and the distinctive colour combination of red body, blue wheels and yellow wings ensured instant appeal to both young and old alike.

Buzzy Bee is regarded by many as the perfect toddlers toy as it is a real nursery adventure in colour, sound and movement with its bright colours, clicking sound and spinning wings. It is traditional for New Zealanders to give new - born babies a Buzzy Bee Pull-Along Toy. The product has graced the toy boxes of hundreds of thousands of New Zealand children over the last 50 years and even Prince William ( the future King of England ) as an infant, was presented with one on his visit to New Zealand in the early 80s. It is intended, if and when Prince William marries and has children, the company will present his first born with a Buzzy Bee.
